September 21:        MILLERSTOWN CHURCH ANNUAL FALL BAZAAR Saturday, September 21st is when all roads lead to the Millerstown United Methodist Church on the corner of High and Greenwood Streets to attend their annual Fall Bazaar, a highlight in the life of the Church. Hours are 8 a.m until 1 p.m, and it is held in the Social Hall of the church. Shoppers will find all kinds of crafts, gifts, and decorating ideas and gifts for Christmas shopping. There is always house plant tables for the green thumb and an array of wreaths, arrangements, knitted/ crocheted items, wooden objects, paintings, jewelry and much more and a popular White Elephant table where you will be sure to find bargains and surprises. There will also be a beautiful selection of mums, pumpkins and other autumn produce. Of course, food is a major part of the Bazaar. Featured items include their famous delicious homemade apple dumplings, soups, sandwiches, pies and cakes and various drinks. Apple Dumplings will also be available to take home along with individually wrapped baked items, an array of jams, jellies, canned goods and soup mixes and also pet treats and more. Breakfast is also served and visitors can eat both breakfast and lunch in the cafe'. It is an event you won't want to miss. September 21: Come to Millerstown on September 21 for a day of events!  A time to come & meet your neighbors, old friends and make new friends! For mid-day activities, come & experience a time of fun - especially for the kiddos @ New Harvest Community Church, 527 Maple Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There will also be food, homemade ice cream, plus local vendors & chili-cookoff! A place & time where kids can be kids, with games, bouncy houses & pony rides available. There will be live music to enjoy.  Vendor goodies to shop from.  Pig roast, hot dogs, desserts, etc. will be available.  Plus, you'll get to sample the various homemade chili cook-off recipes. September 27: Meat Raffle - 7 p.m. at the Firehouse October 11: Grocery Auction at the Firehouse. Doors and kitchen open at 5 p.m. October 19: Chicken BBQ - $6 halves, $9 meals with Chicken, Baked Beans and Mac & Cheese Pick up from 11 a.m. at the Firehouse. October 24: The Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Millerstown Lions Club,will  be held on Thursday,the 24th, @ 7pm. November 18: Turkey and Ham Raffle at 7 p.m. at the Firehouse. December 7: Christmas in the Park from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Millerstown Community Park. Here is the winners list of the Millerstown Community Success Show Your Bloomers in Millerstown   A certificate and cash award was given to each of the winners.  Because of the success, MCSI will again sponsor the contest next year with some different categories.  Judges were from Newport and Mifflintown.  We thank everyone for participating and making our hometown Bloom and Attractive. The contest was called Show Your Bloomers and the contest was very successful. Flowers and plants were everywhere, and judges from out of Millerstown arrived to evaluate and assign the awards for each of the categories that the committee had planned.--Prettiest Porch, Container Garden (Pots), Yards and Gardens, Doorways, Window Boxes, Original Design, Businesses, Churches, and Abstract Art. A different contest is planned again for next year with a Patriotic Theme Contest when the Millerstown residents can Show their Bloomers again to make Millerstown Proud! Many thanks to everyone who made Millerstown bloom this year and hoping that even more will get involved next year when Perry County is celebrating it's Bicentennial celebration. Thanks also to the appointed committee who planned the event; the volunteers met several times and made the plans for a highly successful event and escorted the judges around town to view the beautiful arrangements; needless to say, the judges had a difficult time to make the decisions for each category because there were so many participants.
