Greenwood Youth Soccer is starting the 2019 season. (MCSI) is sponsoring a unique happening in our town - Millerstown Blossoms & Blooms. Every household in the borough is being asked to Show their Bloomers and participate and work together to make Millerstown more colorful and attractive this summer. Many are already busy planning and thinking about what they will do to show off their gardening skills with real flowers and plants.In mid-July, judges will be circulating throughout the oldest Perry County town to judge and evaluate all the plantings and displays. Prizes will be awarded in several categories: Prettiest Porch, Container Gardens (Pots), Yards and Gardens, Doorways, Window Boxes, Original Designs, Businesses and Churches, and Unique & Abstract Art. Each winner will receive a certificate and gift card to area greenhouses. Excitement is growing as the planning is underway to show off their Bloomers. Be sure to drive or walk around historic Millerstown this summer to see the town's creative happening. May 21:  Sandwich and Bake Sale on Election Day, May 21st starting @ 8 a.m. June 1: 2019 Electronics Recycling event sponsored by Perry County Conservation District & Keep Perry County Beautiful. Click here for the Flyer …                    Click here for list of Acceptable Items … June 1:     A GREAT AMERICAN CIRCUS UNDER THE BIG TOP  Everyone will be laughing at the antics of clowns when the Lewis and Clark Circus rolls into the Millerstown Community Park for three great shows under the big top on Saturday June 1 with two shows at 4:30 p.m and 7:00 p.m and on Sunday June 2 at 3 p.m. The circus is being sponsored by the Millerstown Recreational and Park Committee to benefit the maintenance of the park and also for continued development of the park. The Lewis and Clark Circus promises the greatest entertainment value in America with family fun and excitement that will dazzle and delight adults and children of all ages. Breathtaking acts includes performances of aerialists, contortionists, horses, juggling and tons of comedy. You won't want to miss America's #1 Favorite Family Circus under the BIG TOP. Advance tickets will be on sale at the following places: Jo Jo's Pizza and Italian Restaurant, Bratton's Insurance, Juniata Valley Bank and Longhorn Family Campground (formerly Pittman's Campground) all in Millerstown, Souther's Hallmark store in Newport, Zimmerman's Farm Market in Thompsontown, and also from any Park and Recreational Committee member or by calling 717 589-3598. Advance Adult tickets are $10 with one child under the age of 12 free with each adult ticket. The Park and Recreational committee recommends that those planning to attend to please purchase advance tickets as the Park receives more commission on the advance sales. Also, tickets will cost more on Circus Day at the show when adult tickets will be $15 at the gate; extra children on Circus day will be $6. The last day to purchase advance tickets will be circus day, June 1 before 12 noon. Take the whole family for a show of fun and excitement and laugh at the clowns when the BIG TOP sets up in Millerstown on June 1; an entertainment opportunity that you won't want to miss and at a bargain price. All streets on the Millerstown Hill, including Walnut, Poplar, Nace, School and Greenwood Circle. Saturday, June 8th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Always held, rain or shine; rain means garage sales. June 22: MILLERSTOWN PARK WILL ROCK WITH THE RICH CLARE PENTAGON BAND Plans have been finalized to bring a top-notch Rock & Roll and R&B band to the Millerstown Community Park on June 22.  The well-known and famous Rich Clare Pentagon Band, a six-piece show band will rock the beautiful amphitheater along the Juniata River in the beautiful outdoor Millerstown Park, 110 W. Juniata Parkway, Millerstown, PA. Formed in 1971, the band showcases music from Wilson Picket, Smash Mouth, Buddy Holly, U2, and much more.  In early 1971 Rich Clare asked long-time friend Jim Colestock to form what would become Rich Clare Pentagon.  During the 20 years Rich Clare Pentagon traveled, they became the mainstay in the Atlantic City casinos, played Las Vegas, L.A and Puerto Rico, and appeared on a Showtime special entitled Steve Allen on the QE2. The band plays a full schedule year-round including casinos, dances, fairs, fundraisers, carnivals and more- to this day the two original members of the band, Rich Clare and Jim Colestock still perform with the band- and do it well! This great concert is being held as a fundraiser for the Millerstown Community Park; admission to the concert is $10 for adults, children under 12 will be free.  Pentagon will perform 3, 1- hour shows beginning at 6 p.m.  Tickets will be sold as you arrive to the show.  In case of rain, the show will be moved to the auditorium of Greenwood High School.  Food will also be sold before and during the show at the park and also if the show is moved to the high school.
