Park, walk, and shop! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 9: Please remember that Fall Clean-up Day is Saturday, October 9th, from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. This is your only chance until 2023 to get rid of unwanted junk from your yard & house. Maximum of 1 pickup truck load per voucher. No tires or electronics. Drop-off is at the Millerstown Borough Building at the end of North High Street. Let's all pitch in and make our properties look neat and junk free! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October 23:  GREAT NEW EVENT COMING TO MILLERSTOWN PARK—PARKTOBERFEST!  An exciting fall event is a new fundraiser for the continued upkeep for the Millerstown park, called Parktoberfest! It is held in the Millerstown Community Park along the beautiful Juniata River, October 23, raindate, October 30 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be many craft vendors set up, a car meet, scare crow contest, pumpkin painting and make scare crow designs for children, entertainment on the stage, and a new food menu featuring “Smash Burgers” and German and Traditional Food. We are still accepting Craft Vendors for the show and call Curt Black, 717-589-3598 for information; great time to do your Christmas shopping. The car meet is open to cars, trucks, motor cycles, tractors, anything that moves, a dash plaque will be given to the first 100 vehicles and door prizes will be given. Fee is $10 and if you need information, call Dennis Comp, 717-275-4826. The Scare Crow Contest will be exciting and use creative ideas within the bounds of acceptable public displays, call Cindy Roush at 717-589-3766 or 717 226-3371 for detained information. They have to be delivered and set up on October 16. Cash prizes will be $100, $50, and $25, first, second and third. Entries will be voted on by visitors with monetary donations placed in envelopes and placed in the slot in the Hoverter Pavilion. The Scarecrows will be numbered , and when voting, visitors need to put the number that you want to vote on their envelope. There will be great entertainment on the stage, bring your chairs along and spend the day listening to great music and a local dance group and even more . The feature in the afternoon is “THE BROKEN RECORD BAND” based out of Juniata, Mifflin, and Perry Counties. They revive the old classic favorites from the styles of bluegrass, country, rock and roll, rhythm and blue and some comedy. Keep your toes tapping and bellies laughing. There will be a new food menu with some traditional food including the famous french fries. Come on out and get yourself a new “Smash Burger”, and some new German features; you don't want to miss this to fill your stomachs! The fall menu will also have great baked goods. There will be tables full of Chinese Auction items to buy, great surprises, and also a 50-50. Sealed envelopes must be marked Garbage Bid’ and received at the building no later than 7pm on November 1, 2021. All bids shall be for a three (3) year period commencing January 1, 2022. Trash pick up day is scheduled for Thursdays unless a holiday. All bids must be submitted on company letterhead and shall indicate the monthly cost per dwelling unit and to include separately a bid for dumpsters (approximately 40 cubic yard) for a bi-annual cleanup day. The successful bidder shall also provide to the borough free collection of the borough disposal cans placed by the borough and the office. The approximate number of dwelling units in the borough is 278. Payment will be billed to residents through the Borough office quarterly. The Borough will be billed monthly by the awarded bidder. Commercial collection shall be negotiated separately through each business. The successful bidder must provide the Borough with a Certificate of Insurance and comply with Millerstown Borough Ordinance #92, specifically, Section 14: No spills or discharge from any truck will be permitted within the limits of the Borough or a fine will be assessed. A copy this ordinance may be obtained from the Borough Secretary.  The Millerstown Borough Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Bids may or may not be awarded upon opening.
