Community Park Building

 

          1. Call to order: Bob Brofee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

           2. Present: Bob Brofee (Lions), Bill Roush (Fire Dept.), Katy Black (Pool), Wil Benner (Lions), Den Comp (citizen) and Jack Cameron (pool).  

 

         3. Secretary’s Report: Minutes of April 4, 2012 were approved.

 

           4. Treasurer’s Report:  Approved the report as presented by Jack.

           5. Committee Reports:

A. Sports:

• Baseball & Softball: no report
• Football: no report
• Soccer: no report

B. Pool:  no report

C. Community Building:  Spring clean-up was done April 26th.  Peg Bolton and many others helped.  Wil suggested that Kelley send thank you notes to all helpers.  Peg will know who all helped.

 

         6.  Old Business:

         A. Park Dedication Program:  Sunday, June 3, 2012. Invitations have been sent out and       some RSVPs have been received.

      B. Car show – May 12th:

• Medals for the kids hot wheel race and the dash plaques were picked up.
• Advanced Septic Sys will deliver 2 port-a-potties and a hand washing station.  They will also clean the two port-a-potties already at the park.
• A man from Duncannon makes motorcycles for veterans.  He would like to have a stand at the car show to make the public aware of what he does.  He won’t be charges for the space.
• Sausman Insurance is sponsoring a money cube.  They will hand out tickets at the show and will then draw a winning ticket.  Whoever’s name is drawn will go in a plastic cube with money (fake and real) and a leaf blower.  The money will be blown around and the person will try to grab as much money as they can in a certain amount of time.  They get to keep the money they grab.

      C. Dehumidifier/air conditioning for Park Building:  Waiting for information from repairman.

      D. Pavilion Update:

• The area has been seeded.
• One more shipment of picnic tables is still due. The tables have been paid for.  Katy will ask Curt if he can call to see when the tables will be delivered.
• The electric projects are still being worked on.

     E.  Horseshoe Pitching Areas (Eagle Scout Project):  New positions for the pits have been decided.  Since the project wasn’t submitted to the Eagle Scout committee in time a whole new process needs to be started for this project.  The MRC would like it to be submitted and done as soon as possible.

F. Restoration of ground damage around the Amphitheater: This will just be done ourselves after other projects are completed since Fronks don’t seem to going to do it.  There is not much to do.

G. Trail from BBQ to Stage: Chet Strawser will come to do the work after Bob is back from his trip.  He returns May 15th.

H. Security Cameras: Still working on installing.

I. Bryer’s Creamery Sign: Almost done and ready to be installed.  Denny will lay block and Bob will fill in dirt around the block.  

J. Donors’ Plaque: It is going to be mounted on the building.  Denny will mount it.

K. Handicapped Parking: No new info.

L. Fencing along Juniata Pkwy and soccer field: No report.

M. Red storage building clean-out: No more work has been done.  

N. Flag Pole Project: Denny would like to sell memorial/honoree bricks like the ones in the sidewalks in Newport.  The bricks would be placed around the flag pole and help pay for the costs of the flag pole area.

O. Public Address system for outdoor events: No new info.

P. Bike Tour – June 23: No report

Q. Circus: No news.

R. By-Laws Revision:  Bill would like to add two members at large to the board.

 

           7.  New Business:

1. The old picnic tables at the pavilion at the pool need to be scraped, wire brushed, sanded, primed and painted.  It might be best to pay someone to do it unless volunteers can be found to do it.
2. There are stones along the edge of the new paving between the paving and the split rail fence at the pool.  Mike is afraid he will kick up stones and hit the cars that park there so he will not mow it.  The grass can be sprayed, but it is getting very high.

 

         8.   Next Meeting:  Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 7:00 at the Park building.
