Community Park Building

 

         1. Call to order: Curt Black called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

          2. Present: Curt Black (Lions), Bob Brofee (Lions), Bill Roush (Fire Dept.), Kelley Griswold (Pool), Katy      Black (Pool), Den Comp (at-large member), Wil Benner (at-large member), Joe Hunker (Jaycees), Jack   Cameron (Pool), and Mark Stroup (Fire Dept.).

 

        3. Secretary’s Report: Minutes of April 3, 2013 were approved.

 

         4. Treasurer’s Report:  Approved as presented verbally, copies will be e-mailed to everyone.

  It was moved by Wil, seconded by Joe and approved that a monthly financial report should be      recorded in the minutes from the sports groups.

 

         5. Committee Reports:

A. Sports: It was moved by Bill, seconded by Joe and approved that no more buildings be added to the athletic fields. No combined sports group meeting scheduled.

Baseball & Softball: A financial report was presented. No representatives were present.

Football: The trailer has been moved to a permanent location. The cost of moving it was cover by the Park.

Soccer: No report.

B. Pool:  Has been on Facebook since last summer under Millerstown Pool and season pass applications as well as Red Cross learn-to-swim forms are available on the Millerstown web-site.  Repairs are underway in preparation for the summer season.

C. Community Building: Hoagie sale May 23, orders into Billy May 13. Proceeds go to $1600 paint for kitchen floor of the Park Building.

D. Car Show, May 11: T-shirts are here, plus 10 hoodie sweatshirts. All is ready but the weather.

E. Fall Outdoor Show, September 14: Wil reported much help will be needed to make this big show run well. There is a huge interest.

        6.  Old Business:

A. Township concerns:

Recycling program: Many people are unaware of the change.  As of today, many items (such s TV’s) are piled up beside the dumpster.  Bob will complain to Purnell Dressler.

Township meetings here at park building: No news.

 B. Horseshoe Pitching Areas: (Sam McGowan’s Eagle Scout Project) it’s DONE.

C. Security Cameras: Mark will begin work on them next week in the evenings.

D. P.A. System installation: Completed!

 E. Old picnic tables’ restoration: Completed! Kelley will send a thank you note to the FFA.

F. Benches: The Dietz and Beaver benches have been installed!

       G. Ultrusa Club of South Central PA:

Building the fire-pit is still scheduled for this summer with benches around it.

$500 of flower and shrubs will be bought and planted near the footbridge by the club.

 H. Signs: Mostly completed. Billy will check on 3 more signs that say the park is under 24 hour surveillance or that the park is closed from dusk to dawn.

 I. Perry Valley Grange (PVG) & the Park: Billy, Wil and Denny will work on an agreement document to be presented to the board at the next meeting on June 5.

J. Stage Concert, July 6: Bill Ritzman has to get back to Billy with information.

 K. Electrical Service to Red Storage Building: No work started yet.  Recommended 400 amps service put in for use during the Firemen’s Carnival.

L. Year round dumpster for the Park: CCD prices are $15/month and $35 for CCD to dump it when called.

M. Trees: The three large Swamp Oaks planted along the parking lot might need to be replaced.

 

         7.  New Business:

 A. Stage Use August 24: A request for the stage for a sort of Battle of the Bands conflicts with a prior reservation of a class reunion for that date.  A compromise is being checked into.

B. Air National Guard Band on June 23:  We have been contacted by this organization through Perry Co. Council of the Arts to host this 38 piece band during their 2 week touring season.  This will be no cost to us.  We’ll have a concession open and ask for free-will donations.

 

         8.    Next Meeting:  Wednesday, June 5 at 7:00 at the Park building.

  

         9.    Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
