Millerstown Recreational Committee Wednesday, June 5, 2019 Community Park Building A. Call to order: Curt Black called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. B. Present: Curt Black (Lions), Jack Cameron (MAL), Mark Stroup (MAL),Will Benner (MAL), Katy Black (MAL), Kelley Griswold (MAL) Robert Brofee (Lions), Amber Fegley (MFD), Den Comp (MAL), Joe Hunker (Jaycees), Sharon Powley (Pool) and Mary Kissinger (Pool). C. Secretarys Report: The minutes of May 1,2019 were approved. D. Treasurers Report: Treasurers reports for the Park and Pool as of May 31, 2019 were approved. E. Committee Reports:            1. Pool:  SIP n DIP Spring Festival, May 4: Profit approx. $5000. Successful and hopes to be even better next year. Plans to be on the first or second Saturday in May 2020. Legal suit: No news with the attorney in Dauphin Co. New pool vacuum and new slides ready for opening day. Entry road to pool has large pot holes. Approx. cost for resurfacing $3000 for just the top of the road, or $8000 for entire road. Several recommendations were to correctly apply cold-patch from Hellers Hardware in Newport for a good and much cheaper pot hole fixer.        2. Sports: Baseball & Softball: No report. Football: No report. Soccer: No report. Field Hockey: No report.       3.Community Building and Grounds: The soda cooler is working now. A new freezer is needed. Mark will be adding insulation above kitchen ceiling and remove ceiling heat vents in Community Room sometime. New remote key system with keypad will be added to just the front door sometime later. Volunteers are needed to weed-whack throughout the summer. Kelley will add this to roadside sign as soon as there is space available. 4. Car Show, May 11: Great weather, for once!! 161 cars shown. Sold lots of food. Made about $8000. 5. Circus, June 1&2: Best show ever, well attended. Only one of six circuses left in the U.S.! $500 profit to us. We need to sell more advanced tickets in the future. F. Old Business: 1. Security Cameras: One will be added near the new vending machine. 2. Drainage Issue in Parking Area: Mark cut the turf back. Tim Sagle added stone so it can drain. 3. VFW Bronze Plaque: Denny is working on it. Bruce Hengst is going to add a time capsule. A dedication/media event needs to be planned to include VFW and Park representatives.  4. Pentagon Show: Everything is planned for this all for profit to the Park event. 3:30 - Parking helpers 4:00 - Ticket and wrist band helpers No fencing, just roping off area. 5. Stage Trailer: For Sale sign for $2500 will be posted before the Pentagon Show. 6. Stage Rail/Fence: Done. Looks terrific. Can view the muddy Juniata now. 7. Park on Facebook: Working on it. 8. Vending Machine: Sturdier water bottles needed. Might have to purchase customized bottled water. 9. Truck no parking signs: Kirk will be posting 4-5 signs he has purchased and donated. 10. Dumpster signs: Will has signs that are to be posted later. 11. Perry Historians:  Four more historical/bi-centennial markers added in the Park later this month. 12. HSO concert: July 2, Too Hot to Play might be a possibility for orchestra members!! G. New Business:             1. Requests for donating more benches: Lots of requests, but where to put them? Should                 replace old worn-out ones. 2. New reservations person: Will Benner, because of job complications, cannot continue doing                                             this time-consuming task. A new volunteer or some type of electronic program will have to be                 found.             3.(Addendum) Poison Hemlock: It was approved by an email discussion and vote on June 20 to have Burkholder Lawn Service spray this dangerous invasive weed throughout the park.  H.
