Millerstown Recreational Committee       Wednesday, June 6, 2018        Community Park Building A. Call to order: Curt Black called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. B. Present: MRC: Curt Black (Lions), Kelley Griswold (MAL), Wil Benner (MAL), Dave Bratton (MAL), Den Comp (MAL), George Moore (Pool), Mary L. Kissinger (Pool), Mark Stroup (MAL), Amber Fegley (Fire Comp.), Joe and Teresa Hunker (MAL). C. Secretarys Report:  Minutes of May 9, 2018 were approved.  D. Treasurers Report: No treasures report because sadly Jacks mother, Louise Cameron, passed away this week. E. Committee Reports: 1. Pool: Mr. Hoover/Welders Workshop has filed a suit against the pool. Eric Anderson, an attorney    that George has been working with, will be handling the case that has been filed in Dauphin Co. Greenwood Twp. and Millerstown Borough are sponsoring Community Days (free swim) at the pool this summer. A grant has been awarded for the cost of a water slide to be installed at the pool. 2. Sports: Baseball & Softball: No report. Football: No report. Soccer: The soccer association requested permission to purchase a shed to store goals and equipment at the park. After a discussion it was moved and approved that no shed is necessary if their equipment is stored in the red building neatly and they install shelves are built to keep things organized. (Wil/Mark). Field Hockey: No report. 2. Community Building and Grounds: Kitchen sink tested positive for Total Coliform on June 5. Kelley will take corrective action. Wil will be away June 16 - 25. Curt will unlock and lock the building for rentals. All of us will have to cover for him while he’s away. 4.  Fire Company Community Day, August 11 This replaces of the annual carnival, which has been a finical and time loss for the company. Fire Truck Parade at 11:00. Games all day for kids, plus inflatable toys. Food all day. BBQ dinner at 4:00.    5. Car Show May 12: 90 vehicles competed. The weather cooperated for a change. The following weekend (rain date) had terrible weather. 6. Outdoor Show: Is being cancelled this year due to too many other conflicting events. There is a possibility of a replacement event in the future. See new business.    7.  MCSI Annual Flea Market: August 25.    8.  Christmas in Millerstown: December 1st. Vendors will be at park. Christmas Trail lights will need to be ready.   G. Old Business: 1. Permanent Restrooms: Nothing new to report. 2.  Security Cameras: It was moved and approved to purchase four new cameras supported by the system already in place. Two for the pool area and two more for the park. (Joe/Bob) 3. Campbell Sign: Frank Campbell has offered to contribute to the building of the play structure that will incorporate the company sign. Den has a swing that can be added. It was moved and approved that MRC will cover the cost of additional needed materials for this improvement. (Mark/Amber). 4. Randy Spriggle Memorial: On hold. 5. Drainage issue in parking area near Black Pavilion: It was moved and approved to follow Tim Sagles suggestion to cut away the grass and dirt on the creek-side of this slippery area and put stone in the adjacent parking area. (Kelley/Wil) 6. VFW Bronze Plaque: Bruce Hengst has information on the plaque. 7. Circus: June 23-24. Two shows on Saturday at 4:30 & 7:00 and at 3:00 on Sunday.  Tickets available. Call Curt at 589-3589. We only make money on tickets we sell, not anything when tickets are bought on-line. 8. Memorial Bench in Memory of Billy Roush: Has been delivered, put together, and will be installed soon. 9. Memorial for Preston Bortell and Jackie Minium: Has been installed. Take a look at this nice addition to the park. 10. Charcoal grills: Bob Yohn and The Cody Foundation will be installing charcoal grills that will be placed at the Black ($318.16) and Scout ($121.25) Pavilions. Bob is also checking on posts for mounting the grills. The Cody Foundation is donating all this in memory of Cody Yohn. We have to get galvanized cans for disposal of hot coals. 11. Park & Ride: No news. 12. Online Reservation Service: No news. 13. Fire Pit Use at Black Pavilion: To clear up questions of use of the fire pit: Fire pit is included in the cost of renting the Black Pavilion, for the renters’ convenience of use. Others can use the fire pit if the Black Pavilion is not reserved. 14. Tree donations: Two large maple trees will be placed in memory of Lois Reisinger by her family. The trees, purchased at Greenwood nursery, will also be transported and planted by the nursery. Moved and approved. (Joe/Kelley) 15. Painted Rocks: Weeds have covered the stones and are not noticeable. H. New Business:  1. Adopt a Garden: Vicki Shea suggested a program to have area residents adopt areas of the park as their responsibility to maintain. Vicki will be asked to investigate details of how to implement this good idea. 2. Work Day and Playground Mulching: June 30. Ask friends and neighbors to help.   3. Alternative to Outdoor Show: A committee member of the Outdoor Show has a connection with the popular band Pentagon. He will arrange to have a donated concert at our park on August 25, or a Sunday in September! This is too good to pass up! Pentagon has a loyal following. (More info at next meeting.)     4. Movies in the Park: Would this be possible for our park? Dauphin Co. Parks have this popular program.   I. Next Meeting: Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. (First Wednesday in July is the 4th.)   J.
