Millerstown Recreational Committee  Wednesday, November 6, 2019    Community Park Building A. Call to order: Curt Black called the meeting to order at 7:04 P.M. B. Present: Curt Black (Lions), Kelley Griswold (MAL), Jack Cameron (MAL), Dave Bratton (MAL), Joe Hunker (MAL), Teresa Hunker (MAL), Katy Black MAL), Robert Brofee (Lions), Will Benner (MAL), Den Comp (MAL), Mark Stroup (MAL), Kirk Allison (MAL), Sharon Powley (Pool), Mary L. Kissinger (Pool), and George Moore (Pool). Guests: Tracy Troutman (PCCA), Kiersten Burch, Meghan Corkle and Tyler Sherman all with Greenwood Mini-Thon. C. Greenwood Mini-Thon: Kiersten, Meghan and Tyler were here to thank MRC for the use of the Park pathway for their annual 5K fund raiser the Halloween Hustle. It was a successful, fun event. D. Summer concert series through PCCA: Tracy was here to gather information about using the Park Theater for the possibility of a series of three concerts. One in each month of May, June & July. The concerts would be free to the public and funded by sponsors and grants that PCCA will attain. 1. Items discussed: PCCA would be responsible for 1.i. parking, including incoming and egress of cars,  1.ii. advertising, booking, MC of the program, 1.iii. would be held on weekends in the evenings b/c it’s cooler, 1.iv. cover the cost of extra portable toilets and handwashing stations 1.v.  electrical costs.  2. Concession use or provisions and other details will be discussed in future meetings. E. Officer elections of the MRC/Park: 1. Pres.– Curt,  Vice Pres.– Bob,  Sec.– Kelley,  Treas.– Jack. 2. It was approved to hold officer elections annually. Nominations at October meeting, voting at November meeting, new officers begin at January meeting. F. Secretary’s Report: October 2, 2019 minutes were approved. G. Treasurer’s Report: October through November 4, 2019 reports of Park and Pool were approved. H. Committee Reports: 1. Pool: The pool and concession stand have been winterized. No movement on the suit by Mr. Hoover. Perry Co. Animal Rescue would like to use the pool for a “Howl & Growl” dog splash party in October as a fund raiser. 2.  Sports: 2.i. Baseball and Softball: No report. 2.ii. Football: No report. 2.iii. Soccer: They are willing to be responsible for getting and paying for an additional portable toilet during their season. 3. Community building and grounds: 3.i. Christmas Trail lights: 95% installed. Fire Co. spent 6 hours working on it. 3.ii. Insulation and heating to kitchen – not yet. 3.iii. Remote door key system – Personal PIN available, but only works inside the building b/c of difficult reception to the router. 3.iv. Soda Machine – working well. Katy is keeping it stocked, 3.v. Benches – Current cost per bench is $650. Jaycee benches by the pool have been approved for repairs. 3.vi. Additional mowing outside of the Pool fence area – Burkholders will add this to their regular mowing schedule. 3.vii. BBQ Bathrooms – Have they been winterized? 3.viii. Another memorial tree has not been planted yet by the Resingers. This one is supposed to be by the Scout pavilion. 3.ix. Truck parking signs. Kirk is replacing the broken plastic signs with new metal signs. 3.x. Gnome Homes: It has been suggested that a thank you letter be sent or possibly a plaque of gratitude be displayed near the Gnomes thanking the Hokes for providing the homes they built and maintain. 3.xi. Dumpster problems: To report any misuse of the dumpster, we must have a visible photo of the license number and of the driver of the car. Also be sure that a sign is posted by the dumpster that states it is for Park use only. 3.xii. Repairs to the French fryers – the Fire Co. will pay for half the cost of needed repairs. I. Old Business: 1. Security Cameras: A new router is needed. 2. Cocolamus bridge: Power washing to be done in the Spring. Mark has ordered a water pump that will make it possible to use creek water, eliminating the need for the Fire Company’s water tanker to be on site. 3. Facebook page: We cannot get rid of outdated pages until the people (“owners of the sites”) who set them up take them down. J. New Business: 1. Small tractor with a front loader: Would be very helpful for Park maintenance if we could find funding and a reasonably priced used one. K. Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00. L.
