Millerstown Recreational Committee Wednesday, October 3, 2018 Community Park Building A. Call to order: Curt Black called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. B. Present: MRC: Curt Black (Lions), Jack Cameron (MAL), Wil Benner (MAL), Dave Bratton (MAL), Den Comp (MAL), Sharon Powley (Pool), Mary Kissinger (Pool), Mark Stroup (MAL), Katy Black (MAL), Kelley Griswold (MAL) Robert Brofee (Lions), Kirk Allison (MAL), Joe and Teresa Hunker, and guests from JVB: Donald Shawley and Paul Grego. C. Secretarys Report:  Minutes of September 6, 2018 were approved.  D. Treasurers Report: Treasurers report as of September 30 was approved. E. Juniata Valley Bank Investments: Donald Shawley and Paul Grego discussed how they have managed MRCs accounts and gave us handouts that included the details. (Recoded with secretarys minutes.) F. Committee Reports: 1. Pool: Hoover lawsuit - No change since last month. Working on preventive maintenance. New big slide will be installed this fall. 2.  Sports: Baseball & Softball: No report. Football: No report. Soccer: Moved out goal cages so work on shelving can begin in red storage shed. Field Hockey: No report. 3. Community Building and Grounds: Busy, especially in December. 4. Christmas in Millerstown: Sponsored by Millerstown Fire Dept. Saturday, December 1st at the park. 11 AM to 8PM G. Old Business: 1. Permanent Restrooms: Committee meeting (for all who have an opinion) to discuss the Pros and Cons of permanent RR, at 6:30 PM, prior to the Nov. 7th meeting. 2. Security Cameras: Nothing new. 3. Campbell Sign: Shane Davis and Frank Campbell are working together to plan the sign. The playground part is finished. 4. Drainage issue in parking area near Black Pavilion: Tim Sagle will be working on it when things dry out from the rain and flooding. 5. VFW Bronze Plaque: Den has plans to place it at the base of the flagpole. 6. Park and Ride: Representative could not attend. Might attend the Nov.7 meeting. 7. Adopt a garden: Vicki Shea will ask for volunteers if she is given the locations. 8. Pentagon Show: Will be on June 22, 2019. 6-10PM. School will be used if raining. 9. Fire Ring:  Donation of $200/year for maintenance from Bobbi Hoy. 10. Historical PC Bicentennial Marker about Railroad history: Placed near the Hoverter pavilion, 10/3 11. Community Band date: No date yet. 12. Port-a-John location: Will be moved to another location to be available to Park patrons. 13. Pool Pavilion: Pfoutz Valley Methodist Church has volunteered to fix-up this pavilion for us, but will have to wait until flooding has subsided. H. New Business:                 1. Trail cleanup:  Flood mud a big problem. Will need to be cleaned off prior to any cleanup. This will include scraping grass off the edge of the trail to improve drainage.                 2. Four-wheelers invading the Park:  This ongoing problem is getting worse. Cars also have been driving across the grass between the pool and the BBQ pavilion causing a mess with the turf.                 3. Breyers Sign: Its badly faded and needs replaced.                 4. Altrusa foundation: Will provide funding for gravel around fire pit.  I. Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 7, 2018   J.
