Millerstown Recreational Committee   Wednesday, May 1, 2019    Community Park Building A. Call to order: Curt Black called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. B. Present: Curt Black (Lions), Jack Cameron (MAL), Mark Stroup (MAL), Katy Black (MAL), Kelley Griswold (MAL) Robert Brofee (Lions), Amber Fegley (MFD), Den Comp (MAL), Joe and Teresa Hunker (Jaycees) and Kirk Allison (MAL). C. Secretarys Report:  Corrections to minutes of March 6, 2019: Old business, #9, Arch Hostler, not Sherman (second time!), and to New business #3, Tim Sagle, not Will Sagle, will be doing snowplowing. The minutes of March 6 were approved after corrections were made. D. Treasurers Report: Treasurers reports for the Park and Pool as of April 30, 2019 were approved. E. Committee Reports: 1. Pool: Big Fundraiser on May 4 – SIP n DIP Spring Festival at the Fairgrounds in Newport. Legal suit slowly moving along with the attorney in Dauphin Co. 2. Sports: Baseball & Softball: No report. Football: No report. Soccer: No report. Field Hockey: No report. 3.Community Building and Grounds: Ted Loy got the upright freezer and will make a donation to MRC. A new freezer is needed. The soda cooler was repaired by Titus Horting. It will be kept running continuously to prevent losing the Freon charge. Mark will add insulation above kitchen ceiling and remove ceiling heat vents in Community Room. New remote key system with keypad will be added to just the front door. Christmas lights have been removed. Trails and stage have been power washed the last several weekends, potholes have been filled, and mulching and stones have been placed around stage. All done by Denny, Mark, Brian Noll, and Wil!! Kitchen has been scrubbed, repairs have been made in preparation for the upcoming Car Show by Sue & Bob Brofee, Denny, Mark, Brian, and Wil. The Shumaker family is working on the canal tow path area Memorial Garden. Any changes they would like to make must be approved by the MRC board. Volunteers needed to weed planted areas in front area of the building, weeding and weed-whacking around the Park, AND the Hoverter Pavilion needs to be cleaned of spiderwebs and debris. Anytime!! Thanks to the Brofees and John and Lucy Beaver for thoroughly cleaning up the large plant island in the parking/entrance area. Mark Freeland is going to try to sweep the cinders from the blacktop around the building. F. Old Business: 1. Security Cameras: Nothing new. 2. Campbell Trucking Sign: TAKE A LOOK! ITS COMPLETED! Some mulching, replacing a stolen chain and placing a plaque with thanks to Campbell Trucking need to be done yet. 3. Drainage issue in parking area near Black Pavilion: Tim Sagle will be working on it this spring after recovering from shoulder surgery. Mark scraped away the debris for a temporary fix. 4. VFW Bronze Plaque: Work to begin after the Car Show at the base of the flagpole. 5. Pentagon Show: Tickets are $10, wrist bands to be worn for proof, free for children. Show will include three sets. Plans are going well. Over 35 sponsors have been recruited to pay for the insert in the weekly “Guide”. Scheduled truck vendors are: Halls Ice Cream, Firebox Street Grill, and Artisan Pizza. Help needed the day of the show to put up fencing also with sales. 6. Stage Trailer: For Sale sign for $2500 will be posted before the Car Show. 7. Event sign: Mark and Wil are building a support to hang the sign in front of the building. The rocks and shrubs have been removed from the small island and work has begun on installing the new posts. 8. Stage Rail/Fence: Mark has put in the support posts and the balusters/vertical slats will be added this month. 9. Park on Facebook: Wil Benner continues to work on gaining administrative rights through the Hostlers and possibly Scott Sheaffer, who might have setup the two original FB pages. 10. Vending Machine: Delivered! Thank you Amber! We will go together with the Fire Co. to buy a skid-load of water. Sports drinks and sodas to be purchased elsewhere to fill the vending machine. 11. Truck No Parking signs: Kirk will be posting 4-5 signs he has purchased and donated. 12. Spring Car Show: Hoping for sunny weather for once! Early car registration numbers are up. Dale Rudy’s Snap-on- tools (manufactured in Newport) museum truck maybe added to the Show. 13. Circus: Saturday, June 1 shows at 4:30 & 7:00, Sunday at 3:00. $10 for an adult & 1 child in advance, $15.00 the day of the shows. We benefit if tickets are purchased from MRC. Curt has tickets. 14. Park Sign: The ¾ inch PVC sign cannot fit into the stone standards, therefore the new replacement sign will be on plywood and installed in the Fall. 15. Dumpster signs: Wil has signs that are to be posted later. The dumpster will be moved to the pool this month.   G. New Business:              1.  Perry Historians: It was approved to have four more historical/bi-centennial markers added in the Park.              2. Park bathroom facilities: Unfortunately, we cannot provide outdoor handicapped facilities as requested by one individual. It was moved and approved (Mark/Joe) to switch-out outdoor port-a-johns to a different provider after the Car Show is complete.  H. Next Meeting: Wednesday, April 3, 2019   I.
